INTEGRATED ENTERPRISE STRATEGY & PERFORMANCE

What is enterprise strategy and performance integration?

Strategy and performance are often siloed components in an organisation

  • within themselves i.e. domain strategy not cascading from enterprise strategy; or enterprise performance, directorate, branch, team and individual performance disconnected from each other

  • from each other i.e. strategy has not been determined by nor directly related to performance

  • across the organisation i.e. strategy and performance as functions disconnected from the greater organisation (ivory tower syndrome)

Enterprise Strategy and Performance integration brings these two siloed elements together so that you're able to measure whether your strategy is shifting the dial, and to support your efforts to redirect resources when and to what degress is needed to bring organisational effort back into alignment with the strategic direction.

Why is it important?

For an enterprise to perform successfully it needs all the parts working together as a cohesive system.  Integration is  the process of connecting strategy and performance to each other and with all parts of the organisation to provide direction and keep on track, just like main arteries in the body facilitates distribution of oxygen to keep the body alive.

Outcomes of well implemented enterprise strategy:

  • Informed decision-making: Offers objective data to guide strategic choices, resource allocation, and mid-course corrections, rather than relying on assumptions.

  • Enhanced communication: Reduces misinterpretation by providing a common, objective basis for discussions at all levels of the organisation.

  • Efficiency and productivity: Reveals inefficiencies and helps optimise processes, leading to better resource utilisation and higher output.

  • Agility and adaptation: Allows organisations to quickly adapt strategies in response to market changes by continuously monitoring key indicators.

  • Motivation and recognition: Employees are motivated by providing clear targets, recognising high achievers, and offering specific feedback for development.

  • Accountability and improvement: Fosters a culture of responsibility by tracking progress and identifying when corrective actions or targeted training are needed.
